Pilar Muñoz was born in Spain and developed a passion for the arts from an early age. She graduated from the University of Seville with a degree in Fine Art painting before completing her Masters in Fine Art Printmaking at the Cambridge School of Art ARU. Muñoz is a fellow of the Royal Society of Painters and Printmakers in London, and her work is featured in numerous private and public collections worldwide.
Her artistic practice is defined by her exploration of time and its effects on human individuality. Drawing inspiration from daily routines, obsessions, and thoughts, she works across a variety of media, including photography, collage, painting, sculpture, and mixed media. She is particularly known for her innovative use of screen printing and her creation of unique pieces, such as puppets and large-scale works. Through her puppets, Muñoz experiments with the idea of the human being as both the manipulator and the manipulated, reflecting on how time governs individual actions and identities. She often incorporates non-traditional printing methods and embraces the imperfections and mistakes within the creative process, allowing these elements to shape the final outcome.
