Horacio Silva (1950) was born in Valencia, Spain. He is a renowned painter and professor at the School of Fine Arts at the Polytechnic University of Valencia. His early influences shaped a unique artistic path, starting with a focus on realism and social themes, before progressing through various avant-garde movements like Cubism and Futurism. Silva’s works are deeply personal, evolving through distinct phases, while remaining connected to his technical excellence and his desire to continually explore new expressive possibilities.

He began his career with a strong foundation in expressionist and materialistic painting, characterized by meticulous realism with surreal accents and social critiques. As his style evolved in the early 1980s, he moved toward more liberated forms of artistic expression, incorporating elements of Cubism and Futurism. His color palette shifted from cool tones to more vivid and warm ones, marking a new phase of dynamic and expressive works. Silva’s ability to balance figurative elements with a free-flowing, abstract style enabled him to create artworks full of energy and innovation. His distinctive approach to composition, often featuring a dynamic interplay of form and space, solidified his place in contemporary Spanish art.

Silva’s works have been showcased in numerous solo and group exhibitions worldwide. His exhibitions span across major cities including Stockholm, Seville, Havana, Florence, Basel, and many others. Notably, he has participated in significant collective shows such as the Bienal de Ibiza, the Kunstmesse in Basel, and the “Realismo Fantástico en España” exhibition in Vienna, among others.
