Belén Elorrieta

Belén Elorrieta (1962) was born in Madrid and demonstrated a keen artistic talent from a young age. She graduated in Fine Arts from the Complutense University of Madrid in 1985, after which she further refined her skills at the prestigious Taller Infantas. She was also a member of the El Escorial School of Painting, where she studied under the renowned painter Luis García Ochoa. Her career reflects a continuous evolution, marked by her exploration of various artistic media and techniques.

The artist’s approach is characterized by her figurative style infused with naïve touches. She embraces a philosophy of artistic simplification, opting for subjective interpretation over literal representation. This approach allows her to use vibrant and diverse colors that transcend objective reality. Elorrieta’s mastery spans various mediums, such as oil painting, watercolor, Chinese ink, gouache, engraving, ceramics, and fan painting. Capturing intimate moments, focusing on the serenity and contemplation found in solitude and the quiet moments of daily life. The artist has successfully merged traditional techniques with contemporary expression, showing a particular interest in the peaceful and often unnoticed details of everyday life.

Elorrieta has held numerous solo exhibitions in some of Madrid’s most renowned galleries, such as Espalter and Alfama, and has exhibited widely throughout Spain. She has also participated in various collective exhibitions and has been a part of competitions where she has earned significant awards, including the 14th Blanco y Negro competition and the 8th BMW Painting Award.
