Blanca Orozco (1977) is an accomplished Spanish artist. She holds a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Seville, completed in 1999. Known for her mixed-media works, Orozco often creates on wood, blending figuration with a lyrical form of abstraction. Her practice is driven by a desire to tell stories through her artwork, often leaving them open-ended, allowing the viewer to engage in the narrative in a personal and reflective way.
Orozco’s artistic journey is characterized by a dynamic interplay between playful and combative elements, as she explores the intersection of painting, abstraction, and storytelling. Her works are deeply inspired by her ongoing dialogue with the world, often attempting to capture emotions and thoughts through a poetic lens. Over the years, she has held numerous solo exhibitions, including Stote fortes in bello (2013) and Los pájaros pintan el cielo (2012), while also participating in significant collective exhibitions such as DEARTE in Madrid (2009) and Inmigración in Morocco (2007-08). Orozco’s approach to painting has been shaped by her belief in its inherent combativeness, aligning with Lucio Muñoz’s idea that “painting is a fight where anything can happen.”
Her work has been showcased in various prestigious galleries and spaces, both nationally and internationally. Her solo exhibitions include prominent venues such as the Castillo Guzmán el Bueno in Tarifa, Cádiz (2013) and Galería Nando Argüelles Art Projects in Sotogrande, Cádiz (2012). Her collective exhibitions have been featured in several global cities, including Milan, Istanbul, and Paris. Orozco has also participated in important art fairs like Feria de Arte Contemporáneo in Marbella (2005) and Jóvenes Artistas in La Línea, Cádiz (2007). In addition to her artistic exhibitions, Orozco has recently co-founded an art space in Sotogrande, aimed at promoting emerging artists and fostering global artistic exchanges.
