Diego Santiago Salado

Diego Santiago Salado (1965) was born in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain. Growing up in Andalusia, he developed an early passion for art, studying drawing at the School of Art in Jerez. His life took a significant turn when he moved to Madrid in 1987, where he set up his first studio. Eventually, in 1994, he relocated to New York City, where he has continued to live and work, expanding his career and artistic presence internationally.

Salado’s artistic career is marked by his figurative language that veers into pseudo abstraction. His style is defined by broad and free brushstrokes, the use of vibrant colors, and a strong interest in drawing. His paintings often explore the concept of form, merging sharp focus with blurred or obscured details. The energetic interplay of color, texture, and form in his work elicits emotional responses from viewers, pushing boundaries between abstraction and representation. His dynamic compositions engage with depth, space, and perception, inviting a deeper exploration of the relationship between the viewer and the artwork.

Throughout his career, Diego Salado has exhibited his work in numerous solo and group shows across the United States, Spain, and Europe. His pieces are part of various private collections. Additionally, Salado has gained recognition for his mastery in creating royal medals, medallions, and decorations, many of which are permanently displayed at Amsterdam Whitney Gallery. His work continues to be celebrated for its emotional depth and its innovative approach to color and form.
