Ignacio Periñás

Ignacio Periñás ( late 1950s) was born in the city of Logroño, Spain, into a family devoted to viticulture and wine production. Raised in this environment, he developed an early connection to nature, but it was his passion for the arts that led him to pursue studies in Fine Arts at the University of Salamanca, where he earned excellent grades.

In the mid-1970s, Periñás moved to Paris, where he honed his realist style and developed a distinctive approach to using light in his paintings. His time in Paris marked a turning point, allowing him to experiment and solidify a personal style characterized by bold, fluid brushstrokes. A dedicated scholar of the works of Goya and Velázquez, his work displays a unique combination of technical precision and expressive power. His compositions are often recognized for their open, luminous realism, and modern frankness in both technique and color palette.

His works are widely admired for their striking realism and dynamic compositions. In addition to his creative practice, Periñás now resides in a small village in the Alpujarra region of Granada, where he maintains a studio and teaches a select group of aspiring artists, sharing his expertise with the next generation of painters.
