José Antonio Martín Hernández

José Antonio Hernández Martín (1940–2001) was a Spanish painter trained at the San Carlos School of Fine Arts, who worked primarily in Alcoy and Valencia. His style is a vibrant example of mid-20th-century Costumbrismo, characterized by a mastery of Mediterranean light and rural themes.

His works, often titled with references to rural figures and animals (e.g., “Campesina con jumentos”), are highly valued in private collections for their nostalgic quality and technical skill in rendering light and texture.
