Winter Avenue

In Winter Avenue, Edeby captures a slice of daily life in the Swedish suburbs during the early 1960s. A row of tall, leafless trees creates a rhythmic screen between the viewer and the architecture, their dark trunks contrasting sharply with the white ground.

On the slushy grey road, a bright red bus, iconic of the Stockholm transport system of the era, moves away from the viewer, while a small blue car approaches, adding small but vital splashes of primary color.
